Another award – Historic Dockyard Chatham wins Gold

Congratulations to our neighbour, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, for being awarded the Gold Accolade from Visit England  for the second time in two years.  In 2017 the Historic Dockyard was the only attraction in Kent to be awarded with the prestigious accolade and in 2018 is only one of two attractions in the county to win Gold.

Visit England is the national body promoting England as a world class tourist destination and awards these accolades to recognize the quality of visitor experience on offer at the Nation’s top attraction and museums.  The awards are given to those attractions taking part in the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme (VAQAS) and of the hundreds taking part only sixteen attractions have reached the Gold standard as judged by their team of independent assessors.

In 2018 The Dockyard was the only Kent attraction to achieve the gold standard and this year has received a higher score and the Gold accolade again.

Bill Ferris, the Dockyard’s Chief Executive said “Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust’s philosophy is excellence in all that we do.  As a visitor attraction, we provide a visitor experience to this standard in all aspects.  This is the second time we have had the delight of receiving the gold award, and with a higher score this time, it is testament to the great team that are committed to delivering the highest standard of service to all of our visitors.”
