Santa will be visiting St. Mary’s Island – Island Way East and West on Saturday…

Update from Living River Foundation
As a result of research during the Litter Free Maritime Programme, Living River Foundation and MDL Marina are refurbishing the litter collecting boom during the winter. They have found that the extreme change in wind direction and increase litter and woody debris is creating damage to the boom that it didn’t quite recover from this year.
The same research delivered by students from University of Greenwich also set up the monthly community clean ups and periodic business events around the estuary edge of St Mary’s Island.
So while the boom is being refurbished with the help of local supporting businesses, the community and berth owners are increasing the effort to clear the litter before spring, by going out each Sunday afternoon (1300-1500) between 8th – 29th January.
Simply email the Foundation on by the Friday before so there is the right equipment, and the meeting point can be confirmed. For more information see the foundation project page http://living-river.org/litter-free-maritime
