Rescue mission for distressed Cygnet

On Wednesday 30th January Chatham Maritime Trust received a call from a concerned resident of St. Mary’s Island advising us that a cygnet appeared to be in distress along the riverside Walk.  It was hardly moving and very cold.

Carl Davies, our Estate Officer, promptly attended and brought the cygnet back to the office whereupon Carl wrapped it in a foil blanket to warm it up and contacted the RSPCA.  We named it Graham!  On arrival the RSPCA Officer declared that the cygnet appeared underweight and took it to a swan centre for some tender loving care.

Thanks to the resident in Main Street for reporting it and with the swift action taken by our Estate Officer we hope that Graham will recover and thrive.
