Boardwalk Closure

Chatham Maritime Trust owns and manages the boardwalk, and we have had to close it on a few occasions recently due to water levels being unusually low.

If the water falls below a certain level it means the boardwalk may suffer damage to the structure, posing a risk to users. For this reason, we have had to close it and may have to continue doing so.

The South East Coast Path Team will be providing temporary signage showing the diversion route.  We hope this will be installed soon.
