St. Mary’s Island Youth Club

The Steering Group and Volunteers of St Mary’s Island Youth Club are pleased to announce that we are reopening the Club for the 2022/23 School Year on

Friday 23rd September 2022

All Year 6 children who attend St Mary’s Island School, or Year 6 children who live on St Mary’s Island but attend other schools, are eligible to join.

Children wishing to join should come to the Island Community Centre, with a parent or guardian, for 7:30 p.m. and, after registering their interest, they can enjoy a free ‘Taster Evening’ with their friends and other club members.

Parents or guardians will have the opportunity to have a look at what the Club provides and will be asked to collect their children, in person, at 9:00 p.m. when they will be given a ‘Starter Pack’ to complete and return when their child next attends.

A child cannot become a member until their ‘Starter Pack’ has been fully completed, returned, and accepted for future registration purposes, after which they will receive their own personal Membership Card.

The Club is run entirely by volunteers and we enjoy the generous support of Chatham Maritime Trust in the use of the Community Centre and the cost of our Youth Leader as well as the Island School in the use of their playing fields in the summer months.  However, an attendance charge of £2.00 per night is made to cover the cost of replenishing equipment and paying professional presenters to bring various special interest activities and events on some evenings throughout the year.

Our volunteers are now looking forward to meeting our new members but we would like to stress that, if a Year 6 child cannot attend on the 23rd September, they can join by simply coming along with their parent or guardian at any future Friday evening that we are open.
