Socialisation opportunity

Support was given to fund monthly talks for members of St. Mary’s Island Active Residents Association. These included:

  • Stories from the Clinck
  • Talk The Golden Days of Variety
  • Impression of Poirot
  • Talk life and times of Max Miller

As we all know the older generation sometimes have limited opportunities to socialise outside their homes. Age UK states that there are 1.4m lonely older people in England and more than 1m go for a month or more without speaking to anyone. Loneliness and social isolation are risk factors in life expectancy and this group allows the older generation to connect with those in their community.
