Rivermead School
In 2024 Chatham Maritime Trust help fund a new fume cupboard for the science room at Rivermead School. Fume cupboards are used in labs and capture and remove air-borne hazardous substances generated during laboratory experiments, i.e. gases, vapours, aerosols and dust particles.
Their existing cabinet had reached the end of its life; the new replacement will ensure a safer environment complying with the relevant standards and guidelines.
An official unveiling of the new equipment took place in June 2025. Sponsors were given a demonstration which will facilitate a wider range of experiments and foster greater interest in STEM subjects.
Chatham Maritime Trust’s CEO, Richard Farrer said “We are delighted to support this project. Having access to modern high-quality equipment helps students academically and inspires scientific curiosity.”
