Medway Tunnel Closure

As part of the Medway City Estate roadworks project, Medway Council advise that overnight road surfacing works will commence on Monday 21st March for up to 10 nights.  To minimise the impact on the travelling public, the contractor will carry out the works under a road closure which will impact on the Medway Tunnel.  It will close as follows:

Monday March 21st from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 22nd
Tuesday March 22nd from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 23rd
Wednesday March 23rd from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 24th
Thursday March 24th from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 25th
Friday March 25th from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 26th
Monday March 28th from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 29th
Tuesday March 29th from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 30th
Wednesday March 30th from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs March 31st
Thursday March 31st from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs April 1st
Friday April 1st from 20:00hrs until 05:30hrs April 2nd

At these times, the following restrictions will be in place:
• Medway Tunnel closed in both directions.
• Berwick Way closed in both directions.
• Upnor roundabout (junction of Berwick Way/Anthonys Way) closed; and
• Northern (Berwick Way/Upnor roundabout) end of Anthonys Way closed.

The contractor will seek to reduce the number and extent of closures to the minimum necessary to carry out the works safely.
Access to Medway City Estate during these periods will be via Commissioners Road and signed diversions will be in place to guide drivers.
The Medway Tunnel and the roads listed above will be open to all traffic outside of the dates/times stated above. Daytime works will continue throughout this period, with the
lane closure through the Medway Tunnel remaining in place during daytime hours.
