Jubilee Celebration School Competition
As part of the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations, Chatham Maritime Trust is holding 3 separate competitions for schools in Medway. The 3 competitions aim to attract creative thought about our sustainable future.
The 3 competitions are as follows:
Level 1 Competition
Art based competition for 0-11 year olds on the theme of “Green CMT”. There will be a £100 prize for the winning entry and £100 for the School. The artwork must illustrate the theme.
Level 2 Competition
Literature competition for 11-18 year olds on the theme of “CMT making a difference”. There will be a £100 prize for the winning entry and £100 for the School.
Level 3 Competition
This is for 18+ students. “How can CMT reduce its carbon footprint across all activities and assets, practical solutions.” There will be a first prize of £500, a second prize of £350 and a third prize of £150.
Terms & Conditions
The competitions are open to all Medway School students.
Admission to the competition is free and only one entry per contestant.
All entries must be in English. All submissions must be entirely the work of the entrant and must not have been previously published. Entries should be sent by email to
Submissions must clearly state which Level competition you are entering, full name and address with a contact telephone number and email address.
Level 1 Competition. All art mediums allowed – painting, drawing, photography,, collage, digital. Maximum size A2 (420 x 594 mm).
Level 2 & 3 Competition should be between 500-1,000 words in Word or PDF format, font size Arial 11, single spacing.
All entrants agree to Chatham Maritime Trust using their submissions across various platforms, i.e. website, Maritime Messenger newsletter , Friday Flyer e-publication etc.
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- artistic merit, originality of work
- adherence to the theme
- creative interpretation
- impact – message conveyed
All entries must be submitted by email by Friday 29th April 2022 to clearly marked “Jubilee Celebration School Competition”. Images should be sent in JPG or PNG format.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit their original work to Chatham Maritime Trust, Maritime Wharf, St. Mary’s Island, Chatham Maritime, Kent ME4 3ES by Friday 20th May 2022.
Final judging will take place on Friday 27th May 2022. The winning entries will be invited to the Chatham Maritime Food & Drink Festival 2022 held over the Queen’s Jubilee weekend Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022 to collect their prize.
