Gillingham Open Lines: Have Your Say

Gillingham Open Lines: Have your say on our plans

Medway Council reports:

We have the opportunity to bid for funding to for government funding through its  Levelling Up Fund – Round 2 inviting transports projects.  We have identified a number of areas for improvement across Gillingham and are working in partnership with Peel L&P on a joint bid called the Gillingham Open Lines: Connecting Communities project. The project would create the Greenway, a 1.4km cycling and walking corridor between Gillingham Waterfront and the town centre following the line of the disused railway. It will improve access to the town centre and between existing communities and provide a greener travel alternative for residents helping to support the local environment. The project proposals also include travel and transport improvements around Gillingham, including new spaces to promote walking and cycling.

The project proposals also include travel and transport improvements around Gillingham, including new spaces to promote walking and cycling.  This would be in addition to upgrading the high street with new planting, furniture, play and outdoor space for cafes and shops.

Have your say:  From next week, we are inviting residents to have their say on our first set of designs for the project via an online survey. Please complete the survey by Friday, 10 June.
