SUMMARY:Talk: The History of English Chapels

They were a place for travellers and pilgrims to rest and pray on long\, often unsafe\, journeys through medieval England.\nOnly six bridge chapels survive in England today – the Trust’s Bridge Chapel in Rochester is one such example.\nJoin Sue as she tells the story of these unique\, rare places of worship. \nTo book for this talk click here.

SUMMARY:Special Guest Steam Engine at The Historic Dockyard
DESCRIPTION:The Historic Dockyard will be welcoming a very special guest steam engine for the August Bank Holiday weekend’s Steam on the Square… 7232 Sentinel ‘Ann’ is making her inaugural visit to the South and will be steaming into Chatham for one weekend only. \nOrdered by British Tar Products Ltd of Cadishead in South Manchester and built by Sentinel of Shrewsbury in 1927 (mostly known for their road-going steam vehicles). ‘Ann’ features a vertical boiler plus encased engine and cylinders. She entered into service in the autumn of 1927 and was the works’ sole shunter\, moving tar and other related products around the site.\nBased at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in West Yorkshire\, ‘Ann’ is visiting Chatham thanks to her owners Callum Porter and Chris Boocock\, with the visit sponsored by Rapido Trains UK.\n Steam on the Square: Dockyard in Motion\n The Historic Dockyard Chatham\n Bank Holiday weekend: 29–31 August 2026 \nAbout Steam on the Square:\n Watch demonstration trains with ‘Ann’\n Learn to operate a steam crane\n Driver for a Tenner on a diesel locomotive\n Enjoy a ride on the Little British miniature railway\n View the Model Railway layouts from Chatham & District Model Railway Club\n Display of vintage steam\, tractors\, and military vehicles\n Take a leisurely river cruise on Lady Daphne\n http://thedockyard.co.uk/…/2026-steam-on-the-square…/
