World Environment Day

World Environment Day is commemorated each year on 5th June and is a vehicle used by the United Nationals to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and focuses action.
World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. World Environment Day highlights environmental challenges that include climate change, global warming, disasters and conflicts, harmful substances, ecosystem management and resource efficiency.
It is celebrated around the world in many ways, i.e. street rallies, bicycle parades, green concerts, school competitions, tree planting, recycling and clean-up campaigns and more.
By celebrating World Environment Day, we remind ourselves and others of the importance of caring for our environment. Every action counts!
