The Huguenot Table: Eating in Exile

Migration and resettlement in a new country can have major impacts upon cultural practices and experiences. This talk is given by Sara Pennell and will explore how Huguenot communities found their culinary feet in their new communities in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Dr Sara Pennell is Senior Lecturer in the Department of History, Politics and Social Sciences at the University of Greenwich. She is the author of many publications on the early modern history and material culture of food, including highly acclaimed ‘The Making of the English Kitchen 1600-1850′(2016).
There will be an opportunity to explore the galleries as part of this event from 5.45 pm. The talk will be followed by questions and an opportunity to talk to the speaker. The event takes place at the Huguenot Museum, 95 High Street, Rochester ME1 1LX from 6.30 pm to 8pm.
