Talk – Shortage of Nurses? So what’s new?
September 15, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
A talk about the local history of the Voluntary Aid Detachment is being held at the Salvation Army, Church Street, Chatham ME4 4BT on Sunday 15th September at 5 pm.
There will be a live presentation on stage and on screen.
This event is supported by the Chatham Salvation Army Band and Songsters, the Rotary Club of Medway Sunlight and Special Guests.
This presentation is about the people who went beyond the call, nurses in the theatre of war, with a particular focus on the Voluntary Aid Detachment, a story almost whitewashed from history.
The Nurses Memorial Appeal commemorated those nurses who died in service during the two World Wars, with a permanent memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum.
There is an ongoing link between yesterday’s heroines and tomorrow’s savers of lives. Fundraising continues for students who wish to specialise in EXTREME NURSING TODAY, with awards, grants, bursaries and scholarships in conflict and humanitarian nursing.
