St. Mary’s Island Clean-Up Campaign

August 27, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Living River Foundation & Chatham Maritime Trust have announced the next clean-up campaign.

This will take place on Tuesday 27th August from 9.30 am to 11.30 am on the east of the Island.

After that there will be another one on Friday 27th September from 9.30 am to 11.30 am on the west of the Island.

These will be starting from different locations so you need to tell Living River Foundation which one you would like to join so that they can let you know where to meet.

Pickers to collect the litter are needed as well as surveyors to help record what is being collected, so all abilities welcome.  They are now separating out hard plastics, particularly HDPE which is high density polyethylene used in the production of plastic bottles and corrosion-resistant piping, which will be sent to be made into a new addition to the marina to help collect the litter that can’t be stopped getting there.

Suitable clothing should be worn depending on the weather and sunscreen/protection as you will be outside for several hours.

If you wish to participate in one of the above clean-ups then ">email Liver River Foundation.
