Songs & Scones Concert

December 8 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

On Friday 8th December at 2.30 pm join award winning musicians Ainsley Hamill and Toby Shaer for a mixture of Scottish and self-penned songs and story-telling to get you in the festive spirit in the lead up to Christmas.  Ainsley and Toby are a newly formed duo merging folk songs with self-penned material, both in English and Scottish Gaelic. Ainsley is a member of the critically acclaimed folk band, Barluath (www.barluath.com), as well as performing her own material, merging folk and jazz genres. Toby, along with his own projects involving similar styles, is a renowned multi-instrumentalist playing alongside individuals such as John McCusker and Cara Dillon. His instruments include guitar, cittern, flute, whistles and uilleann pipes. The duo have also performed extensively within other bands.

These musical sessions embrace a variety of music from West End shows, well known folk tunes, popular songs and light classical music – something for everyone.

Each informal concert will be followed by a cup of tea, scone and a chance to chat and make new friends.

Chatham Library will be hosting this event from 2.30 pm to 4 pm.  These sessions are popular so you’ll need to be prompt to secure a spot.

To reserve a free place, telephone Medway Libraries: 01634 337799 or visit a library in Medway and ask staff to book a place for you.

This project is being supported by Medway Council and Medway Libraries.
