Septimus Severus in Scotland – Medway Geographical Society Meeting

January 25, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The January meeting of the Medway Geographical society takes place on Friday 25th January at 7.30 pm.

Dr Simon Elliott presents how geography, geology and climate influenced Britain’s greatest ever military campaign.  Since 1975 much new archaeological evidence has come to light to reveal the immense undertaking of Septimus Severus campaigns in Scotland.  This would appeal to those with an interest in both military and Roman history and will particularly appeal to those who are keen to learn more about the narrative of Rome’ s military presence in Britain and especially the great campaigns of which Severus assault on Scotland is the best example.

Meetings are held on the fourth Friday of each month from 7.30 pm to 9 pm at Holy Trinity Church, Twydall Lane, Gillingham ME8 6TN.  There is plenty of parking.  Adults £3 (modest charge covers the cost of each month’s speaker and light refreshments) , students and children free.  Everyone welcome.

Go along on the evening or contact Lorna Bailey on 01634 572139.
