Santa Fun Run at the Historic Dockyard Chatham

The Historic Dockyard has partnered with Medway Rotary Club to play host to the 2019 Santa Fun Run – in aid of raising funding for the Rotary Children Hospice Family Holidays Fund. This takes place on Sunday 15th December.
Ever since 2009 Medway Rotary Club has funded the 4-day holiday to Disneyland Paris. It recognizes the difficulties that families from hospices face in arranging and managing a family holiday – the Rotary Club of Medway pays for nursing staff from the hospices, together with 8 Rotarians (who fund their own trip) to provide the much needed support team for the families. The benefit to these families is indescribable – it provides not only respite for the whole family but affords them the opportunity to create memories of a lifetime to treasure in those dark times.
For the first time the fundraising event takes place against the backdrop of the Historic Dockyard – giving all Santa Fun-Runners an amazing view whilst they race around the circuit raising valuable funds as they do so.
Why enter?
It’s for a great cause….. the event is supporting Ellenor’s Hospice Care for Children. Ellenor’s purpose is to enable children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions to receive clinical care and support in their place of choice.
It’s a very unique venue…. the Historic Dockyard course will be like no other Fun Run. Runners will run past a Second World War Destroyer, a Cold-War submarine and a Victorian Sloop. It’s not every day that you get the chance to see all these at any one time.
It’s going to be fun…. Not only is it great fun and gives participants the chance to raise their own funds but the cost of entry includes a Santa Suit for you to wear, that’s why it’s called a Fun Run!
Doors open at 9.30 am for registration giving runners time to pick up their Santa Suits. At 10 am there will be a disco and announcements, at 10.40 a safety briefing for assembled Santas and at 10.50 a warm up for the runners begins. The race starts at c. 11 am-11.15 am and the event ends at c. midday.

If you have friends or family that wish to accompany you at this fundraising event, access to the event will be free but they will be required to register in advance to guarantee entry on the day. Register via the link above and click on the Spectator tab. Spectators can enjoy a hot drink or snack at one of the catering outlets in Museum Square before and during the event.
Note: There will be no access to the gallery spaces or historic warship as part of this event.
Cost of entry is £12 for adults and £7.50 for children under 16 years of age. The cost of entry does include a Santa suit, medal and 50% discount code for future Dockyard visit. Dogs will be allowed but must be kept on leads at all times and normal toilet discipline adhered to.
