GREat Talk at Medway – Understanding the behaviour of next generation materials.
January 12, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Understanding the behaviour of next generation materials: What can we learn from microstructural data? Delivered by Dr Michael Okereke on 12th January 2022.
Summary:
Scientists and engineers can create fantastic products by tapping into diversity of next-generation materials. These materials show often surprising properties such as supreme strength, wear resistance in extreme environments, enhanced conductivity and impact resistance. They are remarkably lightweight and therefore candidates for replacing steel structures where a green agenda and sustainability are required. In this GREat Medway Talk, Michael talks about the different numerical implementations for developing an understanding of the mechanical behaviour of next generation composite materials and how we can learn from the different microstructures of these materials to be able to come up with information on properties.
Biography:
Dr. Michael Okereke started as a Lecturer in Engineering Mechanics at the University of Greenwich in August 2010. His main research interests are: predictive modelling of engineering materials; impact testing and modelling; biomechanics and finite element model development.
This FREE talk takes place in the Ward Room in Pembroke Building on the Medway Campus and starts at 6 pm. The talk will be delivered in accordance with Government Covid-19 Guidelines with consideration to social distancing and the wearing of face masks. Attendance is by registration either by email: or by calling 01634 883495. There is free parking on campus after 5 pm.
