Ghostly goings on in The Ropery

October 31, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm

For one night only, on Halloween,  you can find out about the ghostly goings on in the 400-year old Victorian Ropery.

It is claimed to be one of the most haunted gallery spaces; you’ll be treated to a ghost story or two along with tales that have been handed down through generations of Dockyard workers.  Stories will include the ‘headless drummer boy’ and the real facts of how this young Royal Marine lost his life.

This is a rare opportunity to learn more about the ghosts of The Historic Dockyard.

There are a number of ghosts that have been supposedly spotted – a sailor stomping aboard HMS Gannet and a Spanish-looking man wandering around the exhibitions late at night. There are also rumours that one worker was filming the Commissioner’s House and caught the ghost of a young girl looking out the window…

Tour times are: 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 12.30 pm, 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm.  You’ll need to book your slot on arrival.

The cost of this is included in the Dockyard admission ticket.
