Fun Palace at Nucleus Arts

October 5, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Nucleus Arts presents Fun Palace on Saturday 5th October from 11 am to 4 pm at the Chatham and Rochester High Street venues.

Nucleus Arts presents a whole day of FREE activities and workshops across two venues, from arty fun to science experiments.

The two venues are:

Venue 1:  Nucleus Arts located at 272 High Street, Chatham

Venue 2: The Halpern Conservancy Board Building at 15A High Street, Rochester

The Fun Palace Manifesto is:

We believe in the genius in everyone, in everyone an artist and everyone a scientist, and that creativity in community can change the world for the better.   We believe we can do this together, locally, with radical fun and that anyone, anywhere, can make a fun palace.

Built on a never-built idea from theatre director Joan Littlewood and architect Cedric Price, the first Fun Palaces took place in the UK and worldwide in October 2014, when 138 venues, locations, communities and groups created their own local events.  Over 3000 people participated in organising these events, many of them as volunteers, and approximately 40,000 people attended Fun Palaces in person, with many engaged with them online.

Fun Palace is all about working with the community – creating events that bring together arts and sciences – but above all PEOPLE – to work together, create together, have fun together, and in doing so, build on community engagement.
