Exploring Naval Heritage – Historic Chatham
July 10, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Chatham was first associated with the Royal Navy during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I until the Dockyard closed in 1984. At the heart of Chatham is the Historic Dockyard but the naval heritage is visible throughout the town. On this walk Rob Smith will take you on a tour of the former dockyard complex and talk about the many heritage buildings. The walk will also take in St. Mary’s Island and is about five miles in total. If you are new to the area then this is a great way to get familiar with the town.
After a lunch break there will be opportunity to explore the museums and historic ships in the Dockyard exhibition or walk with Ron the last mile back to the station via Riverside Gun Wharf. You can of course finish the tour at the Historic Dockyard and return to the station by bus is you so wish.
The meeting point is Chatham Railway Station. Tickets are priced from £9-£12 and must be booked via Eventbrite.
