June 15, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

If you’ve never visited and wondered what is behind the walls of Chatham Historic Dockyard then this is a date for your diary!  Saturday 15th June is the chance to find out as you can visit for FREE.

The Historic Dockyard is offering a unique opportunity for people to visit the most complete dockyard of the age of sail for FREE.  Visitors will be able to take a look at the three historic Warships including HMS Gannet (a Victorian sloop built in Sheerness in 1878), HMS Cavalier (a Second World War Destroyer) and HM Submarine Ocelot (a cold-war submarine and last ship built for the Royal Navy at Chatham).  Note: The ships won’t be open to visitors to go aboard.

Visitors will also be able to find out how rope is made; the Victorian Ropery has been making rope for over 400 years and still does today.  See the Master Ropemakers at work in the unique Ropewalk that’s a quarter of a mile long.
