An evening with Florence Nightingale – using data to save lives

Professor Noel-Ann Bradshaw is the Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Greenwich. This talk will look at Nightingale’s understanding and management of data that influenced policy makers, in the British Army and the Government, during and after the Crimean war. Her methods brought about improved conditions for both soldiers and the working classes, and are as relevant today’s data-focussed society as they were in Victorian Britain.
Medway Talks is an open lecture series delivered by the academic staff from Universities at Medway – University of Greenwich, University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University.
The talks are open to all, including the local community. all University staff and students and take place in Pilkington Building on the Medway Campus.
The talks run from 6-7pm and are free to attend though registration is required.
