Chatham Maritime welcomes HMS Medway

HMS Medway will soon  be starting active service but before that the vessel will be visiting Chatham Maritime from Tuesday 17th September.  During the visit the vessel will be commissioned in the area that it takes it’s name from which is quite rare.

On the Tuesday the vessel arrives at Basin 3, Chatham Docks and sails into Basin 2 at Chatham Maritime on the morning of Wednesday 18th September where it will remain until it departs on Monday morning.

 

On Saturday 21st September the Ship’s company will be involved in a Freedom Parade through Chatham.  The parade will start in Church Street, off of Chatham High Street, and will be led by the Royal Marine Band.  They will march to Gun Wharf in Dock Road and salute as they pass before making their way to The Historic Dockyard Chatham.

On Sunday 22nd September the vessel will be open to visitors from 10 am to 3.30 pm.  If you wish to visit the ship then tickets can be obtained online via the website www.eventbrite.co.uk from Tuesday 17th September.

HMS Medway will leave Chatham Maritime on Monday 23rd September for front-line training ready for deployment overseas.
