A Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
We pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who sadly passed away yesterday at the age of 96. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time and we send our deepest sympathies. Her Majesty was the longest reigning monarch in British history and she will be remembered with much affection for her devotion to duty, her grace, humour and dignity – an example to us all.
Her Majesty had long standing links with Kent, e.g. The Historic Dockyard in her role as Lord High Admiral of the Royal Navy and she was also Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Engineers.
Books of Condolence will be available at Chatham Community Hub and at Gun Wharf in Chatham. These will remain open until Tuesday 20th September. Normal opening hours apply in each location. You can also leave a message of condolence online on the Royal Family’s website.
Floral tributes can be left in Rochester Castle Gardens; stewards will be on hand to direct the public as to where the flowers should be laid. Flowers will remain in situ until the day of the funeral. Rochester Castle Gardens open 7 am to 7 pm daily for the laying of flowers.
