St. Mary's Island Primary School is a two form entry Church of England Aided School

(External) St Mary’s Island Primary School | can be found by turning left at The Stones roundabout as you drive on to the Island, and then right at the roundabout just beyond the Community Centre.

The School was built in 1999 as part of the Island’s development and due to its popularity has opened a second form entry.
The School is a Church of England Aided School, and administered jointly by the Diocese of Rochester and the Education Authority.

The School has an active Walking Bus scheme to allow children to walk to school with their friends in a safe, supervised way, and so cut down on car journeys, and congestion outside the school at peak hours.
The three current Walking Bus routes start at:
- Ship & Trades PH (on the left just before crossing the bridge onto the Island) – ideal to save off-Island parents the trip over the bridge
- Bradfords Close Play Area (adjacent to the Central Walkway)
- Tadpoles Play Area (in Restharrow Way)
