Chatham Maritime Trust / Chatham Maritime Estate Ltd has a small multi-disciplinary staff based at The Coach House.

Martyn Calder (Chief Executive) Martyn Calder (Chief Executive)* Martyn was born on Sheppey and educated at Borden Grammar School, Sittingbourne and the University of Reading.  He is a chartered surveyor and was a director of estate management at Jones Lang, and founder MD of Workspace Group plc.  As a consultant he was heavily involved in the creation of the Trust in the mid 1990s and took over as its Chief Executive in 1999.  Martyn's interests are travel and narrowboats. 



John Grimes (Estate Manager) John Grimes (Estate Manager) John was born in Northern Ireland and educated at Rainey Endowed Grammar School, Magherafelt and at the University of Greenwich.  John is a chartered surveyor and has worked for the Trust since January 2003.    John worked for Cluttons LLP in its commercial property division prior to this role.  Before training as a general practice surveyor, John's role was mainly civil engineering, centred on ground works, water supply and providing training associated with these activities.  John enjoys spending time with his family.  



Sonia Kehoe (Estate Officer) Sonia Kehoe (Estate Officer) Sonia and her family moved from Hampshire to Medway in 2002.  Sonia began working for Medway Council's highly regarded Early Years and Childcare Services shortly afterwards and stayed there for nearly five years. Sonia's background is in administration, training and facilities management. She enjoys reading, sailing, when time allows speding time with her family, even if it is increasingly as a taxi service for teenagers.  




Paula Puxty (Accountant) Paula took up the position of Accountant with the Trust in July 2009 and is responsible for the preparation of accounts, payroll, computer systems and supervising income collection and payments.  Paula gained her experience at Pricewaterhouse Coopers and moved on to Berkeley Homes to gain more financial accounting and systems experience.  More recently she has worked for Rail Europe Ltd during which she had a career break and returned in a part-time consultancy role.  Paula, who has two young children, lives in Maidstone and enjoys spending time with the family.  


Elona Walker (Trust & Estate Administrator) Elona Walker (Trust & Estate Administrator) Elona joined the Trust back in 1997 shortly after it was established so has seen many changes since then.  Elona was born and educated in Surrey but moved to Kent in 1991.  Her background is in customer service/administration working in the drinks and tobacco industry. Elona focuses on Trust and Estate matters.   In her spare time, Elona enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with friends and family.



Karen Waple (Administration Manager) Karen Waple (Administration Manager) Karen joined the Trust late Summer 2006 as a part-time employee but since September 2007 has worked in a full-time capacity providing administrative support for the Trust.  Karen is responsible for the smooth running of the office and general enquiries about the Estate and the Trust.   Karen was born and educated in Gravesend. She spent ten years workin in Magistrates' Courts in London and the law enforcement sector of an IT company and then worked in payroll after having her children. She lives in Rainham and enjoys gardening, interior design and relaxing with her family.


Susanne Carpenter (Accounts Administrator) Susanne was born and educated  in Denmark and met her English husband in Luxembourg where she was working as an au pair .  In 1978 they moved to the UK where they settled in Walderslade with their two daughters.  In her spare time Susanne enjoys reading, puzzles and spending time with her two grandchildren.
