St Mary’s Island currently has three children’s play areas

The Shark Park is situated on the central walkway running north from The Stones roundabout, and offers a kiddies’ area, plus a games court for older children and teens. At present it remains in the ownership of the developer, Countryside Maritime Ltd, which is responsible for maintenance. CML can be reached on 01277 260000.

Tadpoles Play Area is in Restharrow Way is a kiddies’ play area for ages 3-5 years.
It is owned and maintained by Chatham Maritime Trust (01634 891888).
Bradfords Close Play Area remains in the ownership of housebuilder Barratts. For maintenance and other enquiries call 01245 232222. Barratts have recently conducted remedial wporks to the surface matting of the play area and this is now complete. To allow the surface to settle and in order that Barratts can address ground level works the play area will remain fenced off for the time being. Negotiations are ongoing for the transfer of the facility to Chatham Maritime Trust and all being well completion is anticipated for the end of November 2011. A fourth play area is due to be built in the Crescent site at the end of The Avenue.

A fifth may be included on the western side of the Island as it is developed out.
