St Mary’s Island Residents Association (SMIRA) is the association for Island homeowners
SMIRA has a Board of Directors which typically meets every six weeks. The Association is very active in working with the Trust over the maintenance of the Island and with SEEDA and Countryside Maritime over the provision of facilities, and promotes the community.
SMIRA is a company limited by guarantee, and one of the four Member organisations which control Chatham Maritime Trust. SMIRA has the right to nominate two Trustees to the CMT Board. For details of current nominees, see

Anyone owning a house or flat on the Island is entitled to become a member. Membership applications are included with house purchase documentation. They can also be obtained from the Estate Office (tel.891888) and will shortly be included on this site as a download.
Application forms can be sent to SMIRA’s registered office which is at the Estate Office (the Coach House, Pembroke, Chatham Maritime, Kent ME4 4EU). They will be forwarded to SMIRA’s Membership Secretary.
